Herman Krumwiede started Krumwiede Roofing during the early 1900s boom after World War I. His work focused on commercial, industrial, and flat roofing, along with servicing residential shingle roofs throughout the Chicago area. Under his leadership, Krumwiede Roofing grew to become the largest roofing company in Illinois.
Jack Olsen began working for his uncle Herman at just seventeen years old. He started by cleaning work trucks and quickly advanced to foreman. In 1985, he purchased Krumwiede Roofing from Herman and continued growing both the commercial and residential sides of the business while raising seven children.
Mark and Greg grew up learning business the right way-working alongside their dad, Jack Olsen, during summers between school and sports. Those early days didn’t just teach them the trade; they shaped their work ethic. Both brothers paid their own way through college and graduated during the 2008 recession-an experience that strengthened their resilience and drive.
After joining the family business, they honored its legacy while boldly reimagining its future, that is where Redo Cabinets was born.
