Is Cabinet Refacing The Right Kitchen Renovation For Me?
In many instances, a home’s current kitchen cabinets are structurally sound. The actual issue is that they look outdated or worn on the surface. It’s the PRESENTATION that needs an upgrade—not the underlying framework.
If that’s the case with your kitchen cabinets, cabinet refacing is a fantastic option. It requires substantially less time and cost than full-scale kitchen remodeling. It’s also much more cost-effective and quicker than actually replacing your cabinets.

What Makes Algonquin Unique?
Algonquin is known as the “Gem Of The River Valley” because of the location of its vibrant downtown in the heart of Illinois’s Fox River Valley. It was also recently named “Tree City USA” for its continued commitment to effective urban forest management. The beautiful village has majorly grown over the years but still managed to keep its charm and preserve the character and history of Algonquin. Algonquin has two different school districts, and is home to two different colleges! It’s a gorgeous village with a sparse suburban feel that many of the residents adore. It is an amazing place to be.
History Of Algonquin
Before the Europeans moved into Algonquin it was inhabited by the Potawatomi tribe. In 1834, the first settler came from Virginia. His name was Samuel Gillian. Soon after, many settlers started to move to Algonquin, however, there was some dispute on the name itself. There were multiple proposed names before the settlers settled on naming the area Algonquin in 1847. Some of the names included Denny’s Ferry, Cornish Ferry, Cornishville, and Osceola. The village continued to grow steadily but didn’t have major economic growth until 1855 when a railroad was constructed.
On January 31st, 1907, the Village Hall of Algonquin was raised. It still stands today, as a historical landmark and a community gathering place. From 1906 to 1913, many automobile companies went to the Algonquin Hill Climbs. The climbs were a series of steep hills that would test the worth of the vehicles. While modern vehicles tend to not have a problem with the hills, the tradition is honored through the Hill Climb race that is held every year.
For much of the 20th century, Algonquin has served as a quasi-resort town. Many people from Chicago would spend time in Algonquin to escape the troubles of the big city. However, the suburban bliss mixed with the many recreational activities made available by proximity to the Fox river started having more and more people move to Algonquin. The population steadily raised until the 1980s, when the village had a massive increase in residents. The increase in population continued through the 1990s and 2000s. In 2004, the largest outdoor mall in Illinois was built, the Algonquin Commons. Between that and the creation of the Algonquin Corporate Campus and the Algonquin Galleria, there were hundreds of new jobs in Algonquin.
Things To Do In Algonquin
Algonquin is home to many things to do for recreation. From visiting the Old Town District to visiting the beautiful parks, there’s always something to do. In addition, there’s plenty of fishing along the bank of the Fox River, and along the rail are towns with tons of shopping areas and eateries.
